Coliving, creative
& co-working campus 

Creating an “unparalleled living experience in soulful shared spaces inspired by the creative spirit of Camberwell.” 

OVERVIEW

We were approached by a Coliving developer looking to develop their spatial DNA for the main block in a larger mixed-use campus scheme.

 

The brief was for a Human-Centric Design strategy for the interior of this new build development, which we produced alongside a conventional design team of architects, structural engineers and other consultants.

Their goal was to create an;

  • “unparalleled living experience, in soulful shared spaces inspired by the creative spirit of Camberwell.”

  • create a welcoming and inclusive community

  • foster a deep connection and a sense of belonging

The scheme combines co-living and hotel uses, with a 3000m2 hub for creative industries including; creative workspace for artists, co-working space for entrepreneurs, gym, indoor street food market, cinema and rooftop bar.

The new development company was looking to provide an exceptional living experience in an inner-city location. The design concept was based on Biophilic Design and creating a series of “interlocking landscapes” by considering views, atmosphere and emotional resonance.

Key attributes included:

  • Interlocking different communities and user groups

  • Prospect and Refuge

  • Sensory Variability

  • Spaciousness - in alliance with smaller spaces

  • Awe, Use of light and Contrast
